Dept of Communications moves to govCMS
Salsa Digital implemented a new Have your say feature and associated workflow processes to deliver a more streamlined and automated consultation submission process for the Department of Communications and Acquia.
The players
The Department of Communications advises the Australian Government on communications matters — from radio and TV to the internet and emerging digital technologies.
The problem
The Department of Communications was in the midst of developing its new website on govCMS and needed a new vendor to take over the project and continue working with Acquia.
The solution
Acquia brought in Salsa Digital during the later phases of the project to solve some key challenges. During a four-day discovery process led by Acquia we covered:
-
identifying the problems from the prior phases and how we’d fix them;
-
in-depth discussions about designing and implementing the website’s Have your say feature and associated workflow processes; and
-
discussing future plans for the site.
During our talks on future plans for integration with their EDM and CRM systems we were able to highlight interdependencies — things the Department needed to do before their systems could be integrated with the new site.
The benefits
In addition to the established benefits of using govCMS (e.g. open-source, enterprise-grade, stable, secure, approved and vetted solution), the Department of Communications now had a more streamlined and automated consultation submission process. Salsa also took care of the backlog of fixes so the website was running at its optimal performance.
Salsa was able to turn the project itself around — what started off for the Department of Communications as a difficult website experience turned into a positive web delivery thanks to the strong partnership of Acquia and Salsa.
Why Salsa Digital?
Acquia and the Department of Finance brought Salsa into this project as a trusted and reliable partner to take over the build. Acquia and Finance were familiar with our track record, expertise and enterprise-grade rigour, so they knew the job would be done right. In addition, Salsa's experience using agile methodologies helps to deliver speed and risk mitigation to all projects.
Since working on this project, Salsa Digital has also been named Acquia’s Partner of the Year Asia Pacific and Japan (2016).
